Elizabeth’s Story – Making a Splash

Elizabeth’s Story – Making a Splash

Elizabeth has been diving since she was 7 years old. Now, aged 15, she has been selected to be part of the Junior Elites.

“Ever since having physio at The Bingley Physiotherapy Practice, it has made my training so much easier to get through. I had been injury stricken for so long, it was preventing me from going further in diving. Prior to having regular physio with Jacqui, I suffered from persistent injuries meaning my training was being limited and, as a result, I was unable to train and compete to my full ability.

Having regular physio from Jacqui has given me the help I need to train without a worry of being in pain and if I ever get a little twinge I know that she will fit me in wherever she can. This frequent physio has also contributed to my best season yet achieving Irish, Scottish and English national titles and being moved up into a Talent development squad on the pathway to elites.”

Last year, Elizabeth’s most important achievement was at the Swim England National Age Group Finals where she achieved top 6 finishes in all her events – the highlight being the 1m Champion & 3m Synchro Champion. These results, combined with improving her average scores and hitting new personal best scores on all boards, were the main deciding factor in Elizabeth being selected for The Talent Development Squad. The other Highlight performance was her record-breaking score on platform at the Scottish Nationals where she won by over 70 points which is equal to 2 extra dives.

This year has gone from strength to strength with Elizabeth moving to the Junior Elites. Most recently, she had a successful trip to the Scottish National and Open Diving Championship – achieving the following results

  • Dived up an age category into Group A (16-18) Girls A 1m: Qualified for the final in 3rd place with a PB score; Finished 5th in the final with another PB.
  • Girls A 3m: Qualified for the final in 5th place with a PB score; Finished 3rd in the final with a PB score.
  • Girls A Platform: Finished 9th in the prelim.
  • Women’s 3m Synchro: Finished 1st with yet another PB score.
  • Team Event: Finished 1st.

We are excited for the future and look forward to continuing to support Elizabeth’s diving career!
