What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage is a therapy technique used commonly by physios and rehab therapists. It combines the use of Swedish massage with additional, more intensive techniques for the prevention and treatment of sports injuries.
It can be used as a stand-alone treatment, which we do offer, or as part of a physiotherapy/rehab therapy treatment plan to help prevent injury or to treat an injury.
It can help to release tight muscles, improve range of movement, reduce pain, control swelling, help to activate muscles. This is achieved through various soft tissue release techniques.
The pressure can also be changed depending on the patient and the aim of the treatment.
What to Expect
Initial Consultation & Treatment | 60 minutes | 40 minutes | 30 minutes
The treatments can feel slightly uncomfortable during the application as some treatments require a large amount of pressure of the nerves may be heightened to a pain response in the injured area
It is common for muscles and other structures to feel a bit sore for a day or two after these types of treatments as the practitioner has to strip into the effected structures and this can lead to some soreness before it becomes easier.
You should come in suitable clothes so that the area of the body being treated can be easily accessed
We also now offer vouchers for all of our services. So if you want to give someone the gift of treatment contact us or call in to our practice to enquire about our vouchers.
