Elizabeth Crosland of Footprints & Massage Therapies has been working alongside us at the practice since 2015. She offers a range of services including Reflexology, ScarWork and Massage. She has a room within the practice but also offers home visits and works elsewhere in the community including Cancer Support Yorkshire and for the Hospice at Home Palliative Care team. Liz is a much valued member of the team here at The Bingley Physiotherapy Practice and it an absolute pleasure to work with her.
Reflexology
Reflexology works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet which correspond to all areas of the body.
Reflexology is able to;
- relieves stress and tension
- Improve blood supply and promote the unblocking of nerve impulses
- help nature achieve homeostasis
Reflexology is a relaxing treatment, and works well alongside conventional medicine. Its purpose is not to treat or diagnose any specific medical disorder, but to promote better health and wellbeing by helping the body to heal itself.
Reflexology is also suitable for ladies over 12 weeks pregnant.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)
RLD is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet, to affect the bodies lymphatic system.
It is a unique sequence that has been researched and clinical results published. RLD can be used to treat many conditions as well as lymphoedema,
Baby & Children Reflexology
Using Gentle touch Reflexology, I am able to treat children from babies to teenagers.
This can be used to help relieve both physical problems as well as ease stress. There is the option of bringing your child to the clinic for treatment or receiving tuition so you are able to treat your child yourself.
ScarWorks Therapy
ScarWorks is a very gentle massage therapy; it is used to improve feeling and functionality in the scar and surrounding tissues.
Visually, scars often appear smaller, flatter, lighter and less prominent, but the emphasis is on the underlying tissue changes. Dense scar tissue can reduce, nerve impairment such as numbness, pain, itching, irritation or extreme sensitivity may improve.
Multiple treatments are recommended to gain the most benefit. Response to treatment will vary for each individual. ScarWorks is suitable for scars both old and new.
Holistic & Deep Tissue Massage
Using Swedish and Deep Tissue massage techniques, this massage can be relaxing or stimulating. The massage helps to release muscle tension and so help to improve joint mobility and ease muscular aches and pains. Aromatherapy oils can also be used.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage can be of great benefit to the mother, aiding relaxation and helping to ease muscle aches and tension.
The massage is done in a side laying position with additional pillows for support as required.
Pregnancy massage is suitable for all ladies over 12 weeks pregnant who are experiencing a low risk pregnancy.
In addition to massage, Reflexology is also suitable and very beneficial during pregnancy, and in preparation for the birth.
Aromatherapy Massage
Essential oils are extracted from plants and chosen for their therapeutic properties. A blend is created which is bespoke to you and your needs on that day. Aromatherapy is a great way to help with both psychological and physiological concerns, and the effects of the treatment will be felt long after your treatment has finished.
Seated Acupressure (On Site Massage)
An energising massage which is given through the clothes with the client seated is a specially designed chair. Based on a traditional form of Japanese massage, it works on the muscular, circulatory and nervous systems.
