Manual therapy for the Cranium forms part of the treatment offered by our Practice Director Jacqui Taylor. Jacqui has trained with leading Canadian Physiotherapist Doreen Killens, author of Mobilizing the Myofascial System: A Clinical Guide to Assessment and Treatment of Myofascial Dysfunctions.
Cranial Therapy is a gentle manual treatment that aims to restore the rhythm and balance with the body, if the cranium is found to be the driving factor behind your individual problem. The cranium has its own rhythm, similar to that of respiration, linked to the movement of the Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) and this rhythm can be felt through the body at the cranium and between the cranium and the sacrum – either ends of the spinal cord.
The cranium is often a key part of treatment for those who have suffered previous head injury or concussion, even if it some time ago. However, it may also be a contributing factor to your particular problem even if you have never had such and injury. This would be established through the initial consultation.
This treatment is also beneficial in the treatment of more recent concussions and headaches.
The approach applied by Jacqui is slightly different than Cranial Osteopathy and Cranial-Sacral treatment, if you are familiar with those approaches. If you are interested in finding out more then please do call the practice on 01274 565 669 or email office@bingleyphysio.com and ask to speak with Jacqui.
We also now offer vouchers for all of our services. So if you want to give someone the gift of treatment contact us or call in to our practice to enquire about our vouchers.
