COVID-19 UPDATE 11th May 2020

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 10th May, I wanted to update what we are doing as a practice to maintain a service for our clients over the coming weeks. As we slowly start to move as a county to relax some of the stricter lock down restrictions, I want to reassure all our clients that we are doing all that we can to be ready to open for in-person services again. I am personally very much looking forward to being able to welcome you all back into the practice. In the meantime, here is further information about what we are able to offer.

ONLINE PHYSIO CONSULTS

Since the very first day of the lock down, we have been offering Online Physio Consults to serve the needs of our clients. I will be the first to admit that I had no idea how this was going to work and how I was going to convert what I do in the treatment room to an online video consult. It has been an interesting process and has involved a lot of learning with my other physio colleagues, nationally and internationally, and I am currently working with my physio mentor, Diane Lee, to help to deliver an online training programme.

Not to mention the learning process I have been through with every one of those clients who have taken the step to try the service. Together we have been able to solve some pretty complex problems and make a difference to people’s lives – as Sarah explains office@bingleyphysio.com

EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS

At present, The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has issued clear guidelines as to when a clinician can see a client in-person

  • When there is a high suspicion of risk of serious deterioration from underlying pathology and one is unable to determine this remotely.
  • The patient has urgent rehabilitation needs, which if not met, will require care from General Practice, secondary care or social care agencies.

I have been operating inline with this guidance and will continue to do so. This is be established from your initial conversation when you call to book the appointment.

PLANS FOR RE-OPENING THE PRACTICE

Alongside the ongoing work to provide this ongoing service, I have been spending a lot of time talking with other physio clinic owners and other businesses outside this sector, to understand when we might be able to reopen our doors for in-person sessions. It is not clear yet at what Alert stage private practices will be able to reopen. I will update you as soon as I know more.

In the meantime, I would encourage anyone who is seeking treatment to get in contact with us about trying an Online Physio Consult.

GET ON THE WAIT LIST

When we do re-open, we are anticipating a high demand for appointments. With the social distancing restrictions in place we will be working at a reduced capacity to minimize unnecessary interactions. As such, we are offering people the opportunity to get their name on the wait list for appointments. We will then get in contact with you as and when we know when we can see people. If you would like your name to be added to the list then please get in touch with me directly on jacqui@bingleyphysio.com.

Please note that those who are currently in treatment with us via Online Physio Consults will take first priority for in-person appointments.

KEEP IN TOUCH

If you are on FACEBOOK then please join our group to keep up to date with all that we are doing and what I hope are other helpful resources to keep you moving and healthy at this time.

HOME WORKING TRAINING

I have also been working on another initiative to support companies who find themselves with their staff working from home and without the proper ‘home office’ to do so. After 7 or more weeks of this, people are starting to have problems with back, neck and shoulder pain – among other things, which neither the company nor the individual wish to see become a long term issue. Further details of the training package can be found here – please do get in touch with me directly at jacqui@bingleyphysio.com

In summary, although the lock down restrictions have started to ease, nothing much has changed yet with regard to physiotherapy.  The only way to see a physio at the moment is still online, so if you or someone you know is struggling, please call us on 01274 565669 and book a session with one of the team.

The team at The Bingley Physiotherapy Practice appreciates all our clients and thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for all your support over the years!! Thank you! We wish nothing but the best for each of you.

Everything in life is temporary, these bad times will not last forever and better days are on their way.

Jacqui
